Mohamed Zahid Appointed as President and Abdurrahman Salah Rashid as Vice President of the Elections Commission

Mohamed Zahid has officially been appointed as the President of the Elections Commission, while Abdul Rahman Salah Rashid has been appointed as the Vice President. The appointments, which follow the Parliament's approval yesterday, mark a significant step in the leadership of the Elections Commission as the nation prepares for upcoming electoral processes.
The nominations were submitted to Parliament on February 10th, with the Parliament voting in favor of the appointments. A total of 68 members voted in favor of Mohamed Zahid’s appointment as the President of the Elections Commission, while 69 members supported Abdul Rahman Salah Rashid as Vice President.
Zahid brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served as the Vice President of the Human Rights Commission. Abdul Rahman Salah Rashid, on the other hand, most recently held the position of Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs before resigning early last year. Both Zahid and Salah were appointed as members of the Elections Commission on January 26th of the previous year.
