We’re Watching the Vultures Closely: Abdul Raheem

The efforts to destroy the PPM and PNC coalition are futile, claimed Abdul Raheem Abdullah, interim leader of the opposition PNC/PPM coalition.
In a tweet written in response to a news article which claimed that the former president Yameen Abdul Gayyoom had lost faith in the PPM/PNC leadership, Abdul Raheem denied this and affirmed that the former president had full faith in the coalition leadership. He further warned that they were watching “the vultures” carefully.
Prior to being incarcerated, former President Yameen had addressed a rally of his supporters and asked them not to hand over the PPM to “the vultures”.
Even though he never mentioned to whom he was referring, it is widely assumed that it was a veiled reference to the former Minister of Defence, Ahmed Nazim; the leader of the Jumhooree Party; Qasim Ibrahim; and the former president’s half-brother, Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom.
