Opposition PPM's Vice President and MP for Naifaru Consitutency Ahmed Shiyam has stated that the majority of the bills sent to the parliament by the current administration are designed for vengeance.
Tweeting about the ratification of the Transitional Justice Act by President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih, Shiyam stated that the majority of the bills aim to take revenge. The Transitional Justice bill is designed to investigate cases from the first day of President Ameen’s administration to the end of President Yameen’s administration.
The Transitional Justice Act opens venues for financial damages to be taken for victims who suffered directly due to actions mentioned in the act. Other damages could be provided for individuals who were indirectly affected. These include housing, education, and job opportunities.
In his tweet, Shiyam accused that 45 percent of bills sent to parliament by the current administration directly contradicts the constitution. He also stated that the majority of these bills were drafted with the intent of getting revenge.
Shiyam associated the ratification of the Transitional Justice Act with that of digging a grave. He also noted that due to the Transitional Justice Act the country would face civil strife.
