Bank of Maldives (BML) has been named the Platinum Partner of the 11th International Conference on Intellectual Advancement (ICIA 2026), organised by the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM).
The conference will be held from August 30 to 31 under the theme “Building a Learning Society for Sustainable Development.” A full-day workshop focusing on advanced research tools, professional development and publication strategies will also be conducted on August 29.
Held annually by IUM since 2016, ICIA has developed into one of the Maldives’ leading academic and scientific conferences. It provides a platform for scholars, researchers, students, practitioners and policymakers to present research, exchange knowledge and engage in academic discussions.
This year’s conference will cover several fields, including social sciences, humanities and education; Sharia and law; tourism, environment and technology; management, business, economics, accounting, finance and banking; Arabic language and literature; and Quranic science and Islamic studies.
ICIA accepts research papers, concept papers, review papers and research posters in English, Dhivehi and Arabic. The conference will also recognise notable contributions through awards such as Best Paper, Outstanding Presentation and the IUM Dean’s Research Advocacy Award.
In a statement, BML described ICIA as an important platform for exchanging scientific knowledge and encouraging meaningful academic debate. The bank said the conference contributes to strengthening evidence-based practices in the Maldives while supporting the country’s expanding academic and research community.
BML reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote research, intellectual development and knowledge-sharing. The bank said its partnership with ICIA forms part of its broader efforts to contribute to the advancement of the Maldives’ education and research sectors.
