The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has advised businesses and members of the public to obtain the cash and coin change they may require before the start of this year’s Eid al-Adha holidays.
In a statement, the MMA said government offices will remain closed for the Eid holiday period from 24 May 2026 to 30 May 2026.
The authority noted that banks across the Maldives will open on Thursday, 28 May 2026, to minimise inconvenience to the public during the extended holiday. Banking services on that day will be available from 8:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
However, the MMA clarified that services related to the issuance of cash and coin change for the public will not be available on 28 May.
The central bank therefore urged businesses and individuals to arrange any cash or coin change needed for the holiday period within this week to avoid inconvenience.
