The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has announced a re-draw for land plots at Giraavaru Falhu after finalising and gazetting revisions to the island’s land use plan on 26 January 2026.
Under the updated plan, a total of 4,072 plots will be allocated. The changes have resulted in a shortfall of 610 plots compared to the previous arrangement, prompting the Ministry to conduct a fresh draw to assign new plot numbers to recipients. The re-draw is scheduled for 31 January 2026 at 9:30 am at the Social Centre.
The revised allocation includes 2,603 plots of 1,250 square feet, 1,214 plots of 1,650 square feet, 254 plots of 2,050 square feet, and one plot measuring 2,450 square feet.
The Ministry stated that the draw will be conducted by designated officials. Only one person per plot will be permitted entry to the draw area. If a representative attends on behalf of a land recipient, entry will be allowed upon presentation of the official notice and copies of identity cards for both the recipient and the representative.
Plot allocations will be updated live on the Hiyaavehi Portal during the draw, and recipients will receive their new plot numbers via SMS.
Details regarding the signing of land transfer agreements and the handover of land registry documents will be announced at a later date, once the draw is complete.
The re-draw follows the completion of land reclamation at Hulhumalé Phase III. President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has previously stated that reclamation works at Giraavaru Falhu will be the next priority in the Government’s efforts to expand land availability and address housing demand in the Greater Malé Region.
