The Maldives Customs Service has revised the procedure for obtaining Certificates of Origin for goods exported to China under the China-Maldives Free Trade Agreement (CMFTA).
Effective from the 15th of this month, applications must be submitted via the Customs Portal. Exporters can log in, select “Request” from the menu, and access the service under “Certificate Request.”
Once approved, the certificate will be visible on the Customs Portal. Payments for the certificates must also be made through the portal, after which Customs will issue a printed copy.
The CMFTA provides tariff concessions for a range of Maldivian exports to China, facilitating greater trade opportunities between the two nations.
