Maldives Police Service has launched an enforcement operation to tow illegally parked vehicles along Malé’s main road, Majeedhee Magu, as part of broader efforts to ease congestion and improve traffic safety in the capital.
In a statement issued to the media, police announced that all vehicles obstructing public transport and traffic flow on Majeedhee Magu will be removed and held for a minimum of 48 hours before owners can retrieve them. Legal action will also be taken against violators.
The operation, which began yesterday, has already resulted in the towing of 42 vehicles, including 37 motorcycles and 5 cars.
Police have urged the public to use designated parking areas and have acknowledged the cooperation of residents in helping to ensure road safety and order in the city.
The campaign is part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement to tackle long-standing traffic management challenges in Malé City.
