Former Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid Arrested Over Alleged Sexual Abuse of a Minor

Former Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has been arrested in connection with allegations of sexual abuse involving a minor, the Maldives Police Service has confirmed.
In a statement issued on 2 November, police said Shahid, 64, was arrested at 9:59 p.m. that evening. Police said the case remained under investigation.
According to information obtained by Dhiyares, the complaint was filed by a 15-year-old girl. The allegations concern sexual abuse while Shahid occupied a position of trust.
