President Muizzu Ratifies Law Banning Entry for Israeli Passport Holders

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has ratified the third amendment to the Maldives Immigration Act, officially banning the entry of Israeli passport holders into the Maldives. The amendment was passed by the People’s Majlis during its 20th sitting of the first session of the year, held on April 15, 2025.
The new provision reflects the government’s strong stance against the ongoing atrocities and acts of genocide committed by Israel against the Palestinian people. The move is part of a broader effort by the Maldives to stand in firm solidarity with Palestine, and to hold Israel accountable for violations of international law.
The Government of Maldives has reiterated its unwavering commitment to the rights of the Palestinian people and continues to raise its voice in condemnation of Israel’s actions on international platforms. President Muizzu has consistently advocated for the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with UN resolutions and international legal standards.
