President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic relations with all nations while preserving the Maldives’ sovereignty and national interests.
Speaking to state media PSM before concluding his official visit to Estonia, President Muizzu emphasized the importance of maintaining strong ties with neighboring countries, describing them as the Maldives’ closest and most essential partners.
"Our neighbors are very important to us. That fact won't change. Our neighbors are our closest friends. While maintaining that, I believe we must explore all paths that benefit Maldivians," he stated.
President Muizzu reaffirmed that the government's foreign policy is guided by national interests, ensuring that all diplomatic engagements align with the Maldives' long-term priorities.
The President also highlighted Estonia's global leadership in digital transformation, noting that his visit had secured assurances of Estonia’s support in digitalizing public services in the Maldives.
"We want to digitalize our public services 100 percent. We want to convert our traditional paper archives to digital archives," he said, adding that his administration remains focused on implementing the digital initiatives outlined in his manifesto.
During the visit, President Muizzu engaged with Estonian leaders and institutions to explore collaboration opportunities in technology and governance. The trip marks a step forward in the Maldives’ efforts to modernize government services and enhance international partnerships.
