The CEO of Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO), Dr. Vitaliy Lyubimov, has issued a strong warning against any political influence in the company’s operations, stating that such attempts will be met with immediate action.
In a statement released Thursday, MIFCO addressed the recent appointment of Ahmed Nasir as General Manager of the Human Resources Department. Nasir, chosen for his extensive expertise in human resources management, was described as the ideal candidate to lead the department during this critical phase for the company.
The statement highlighted attempts by external political forces to influence the selection process, lobbying for the appointment of an alternate candidate. Despite the pressure, the lobbied candidate was rejected, marking the first instance of unauthorized political interference during Dr. Lyubimov’s leadership, which began on 10 December.
Dr. Lyubimov strongly condemned these actions, emphasizing that MIFCO would not tolerate any political meddling in its operations.
“Any attempt to exert political pressure on the company’s operations will be met with immediate action. There will be zero tolerance for such interference, and I will ensure full transparency by sharing the identities of those attempting to influence the company,” he stated.
The CEO reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining a professional and independent management structure at MIFCO, ensuring it remains free from external pressures. He also expressed confidence in the competence and qualifications of the current management team to drive sustainable growth in the fisheries sector.
