Reethi Raajje Campaign Concludes Impactful Events in Laamu Atoll

The Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI), in collaboration with Parley Maldives, successfully wrapped up a series of impactful events in Laamu Atoll as part of the Reethi Raajje - ރީތި ރާއްޖެ campaign. Supported by the L. Atoll Council, Gan Council, and Hamad School, the campaign emphasized environmental sustainability and cultural preservation through community engagement and collaborative initiatives.
On December 15, 2024, the main event took place at Hamad School with participation from students in Gan and Fonadhoo. Parley Maldives and UNICEF Maldives' Climate Guardians conducted interactive activities aimed at inspiring young minds to take proactive steps against climate change.
Earlier, on December 14, 2024, a cleanup event was held along the longest beach stretch in the atoll, in partnership with UNICEF and Climate Guardians. Over 170 kg of waste was removed, highlighting the critical importance of maintaining the Maldives’ pristine natural environment.
As part of its cultural preservation efforts, the campaign documented notable landmarks such as Bodu Fengandu in Gan and historic mosques in Fonadhoo, Isdhoo, Kalaidhoo, and Maabaidhoo. This initiative aimed to celebrate and raise awareness about the Maldives' rich heritage while emphasizing the link between cultural preservation and environmental sustainability.

The Reethi Raajje campaign’s events in Laamu Atoll showcased its commitment to fostering environmental stewardship and preserving cultural heritage. The campaign will continue its journey across the Maldives, uniting communities in the pursuit of a sustainable and vibrant future.
