Maldivian aid reaches Palestine
Maldives Zakat House has undertaken its first global aid operation, allocating USD 100,000 from the nation's Zakat Fund to provide essential water supplies to Palestinians. This milestone marks the inaugural overseas disbursement from the fund.
In collaboration with Qatar Red Crescent, the initiative has already delivered 6,000 cases of bottled water to Al-Shifa and Al-Hayat hospitals, with plans to distribute an additional 50,000 cases, benefiting 60,000 individuals in total.
This humanitarian effort aligns with the Maldives' broader campaign to support Palestine, which includes government-organised telethons and fundraising events. The water aid represents a critical component of the Maldives' continued response to the humanitarian crisis faced by Palestinians.
