The Zakat Fund has spent a total of MVR 30.7 million during the first six months of 2025, providing wide-ranging support to the poor and needy, stranded travelers, religious causes, and Zakat administrators.
According to official statistics, from January to June 2025, MVR 14.2 million was distributed as direct aid to individuals listed in the official registry of the poor and needy. Each eligible person received MVR 5,000. Additionally, MVR 78,377.97 was disbursed to people facing special circumstances outside the standard registry.
Medical assistance accounted for a significant portion of the fund's expenditures, totaling over MVR 8.5 million in aid to 594 individuals. Among this, MVR 2.4 million was used for cancer treatment alone, while MVR 4.2 million supported the treatment of other illnesses.
Under the category of *Fi Sabilillah* (in the way of Allah), the fund spent MVR 3.3 million on Quran memorization and the promotion of Quranic knowledge. A further MVR 1.7 million was allocated to support various religious programs. In addition, MVR 1.8 million was used to pay wages of Zakat administrative staff (*Amils*).
The Zakat House continues to deliver monthly assistance across the country to Maldivian citizens in need. This includes support for basic living expenses, healthcare needs, and other essential services, as part of its mission to ensure aid reaches the most vulnerable members of society.
