Maldives to Host "I AM Maldives Roadshow" in Georgia and Azerbaijan to Boost Tourism from Emerging Markets

The National Hotels and Guest House Association of Maldives (NHGAM), in collaboration with the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives) and the Maldives Association of Travel Agents & Tour Operators (MATATO), will host the "I AM Maldives Roadshow" from December 17 to 20, 2024, in Tbilisi, Georgia, and Baku, Azerbaijan.
This strategic business-to-business (B2B) event aims to increase the Maldives’ visibility in these emerging markets, foster stronger tourism ties, and attract more visitors from Azerbaijan and Georgia. The roadshow will feature 18 co-exhibitors, including resorts, hotels, guesthouses, and travel agencies, offering industry professionals an opportunity to connect, showcase their services, and gain valuable insights into local market trends.
NHGAM President Abdulla Nasheed emphasized the importance of expanding into these markets, describing the initiative as crucial for the sustainable growth of local island tourism. “Azerbaijan and Georgia present exciting opportunities for our local island tourism sector. This initiative will create sustainable growth opportunities for our members while connecting guesthouse operators and tourism businesses with these promising markets,” Nasheed said.
The event will include destination presentations by Visit Maldives, updates from travel agents, and airline presentations highlighting travel connectivity. To engage participants, 40 holiday packages sponsored by industry partners will be raffled off.
Air Arabia has been designated as the official travel partner, ensuring affordable travel for the Maldivian delegation. Additionally, Visit Maldives will collaborate with Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) to host a media and influencer familiarization trip to further promote the destination.
MMPRC CEO Ibrahim Shiury highlighted the strategic value of this initiative, noting that Azerbaijan and Georgia are emerging as vital markets. “This roadshow strengthens our presence in these regions and introduces the Maldives’ unique offerings to a wider audience,” Shiury stated.
