The Maldives National Meteorological Service (MET) has extended the white alert issued earlier for the entire country. The alert, initially set to expire at 18:30 PM, has been extended until 01:00 AM.
According to the MET Office, strong winds ranging from 19 mph to 24 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph, are expected, accompanied by rough seas.
The MET Office also forecasts that a cyclone forming in the eastern Bay of Bengal, though located southeast of the Maldives, will contribute to strong general winds across the country over the next five days, starting Wednesday.
