The Maldives Polytechnic is poised for a major transformation as part of a modernization and rebranding initiative, announced Dr. Maryam Mariya, Minister of Higher Education, Labour, and Skills Development. The announcement was made during a special programme aired by PSM News to mark the government’s first anniversary.
Minister Mariya highlighted that the current state of the polytechnic lacks the facilities necessary to create a conducive learning environment for today’s youth. She emphasized that modernization efforts will soon be underway to introduce advanced technology and modern teaching methods, including online learning platforms, to enhance the student experience.
“The current teaching methods are outdated. To prepare our youth for the future, we must integrate modern tools and create a more engaging, technologically advanced learning space,” she stated.
The Maldives Polytechnic, established to provide vocational training and develop a skilled workforce, offers various programs ranging from certificates to diplomas. The institution is also expanding its campuses across different regions to better serve young people seeking practical, job-ready skills.
The initiative aims to align the polytechnic with contemporary educational standards, ensuring that it remains a vital resource for skill development and employment readiness in the Maldives.
