The Chinese government has donated 80 Lenovo computers and 20 Lenovo laptops to the Maldives, formalizing the gift in an agreement between the Maldives Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Embassy in Malé. Foreign Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel signed on behalf of the Maldives, while Chinese Ambassador Wang Lixin represented China.
During the signing ceremony, Minister Khaleel expressed gratitude for China's continued support, noting that the equipment would significantly enhance the Maldives' technical capabilities. He highlighted China’s role in advancing digital services for the Maldivian people, calling the donation a reflection of the strong partnership between the two nations.
Ambassador Wang Lixin praised the enduring relationship between the Maldives and China, emphasizing China’s contributions to Maldivian development over the years. He also announced China’s commitment to further cooperation by offering training in China for 1,000 Maldivian civil servants across various fields, reinforcing ties between the two countries and supporting local capacity-building efforts.
