A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her father and brother in the Shivpuri area of Madhya Pradesh, prompting outrage and raising awareness about child abuse within families.
According to the district police, the incident occurred in a village under the jurisdiction of the Dinara police station. The victim reported that her 56-year-old father had been abusing her for nearly two years. After confiding in her 19-year-old brother about the ongoing abuse, he also allegedly raped her and recorded some of the incidents.
Vinod Bhargava, in charge of the Dinara police station, revealed that the family consists of the accused father, the accused elder son, the victim, and the youngest son. The mother of the children had divorced the father years ago and moved elsewhere, leaving the children in a vulnerable situation.
Upon learning of the abuse, the brother and other family members took the matter to the local police, leading to the arrest of both the father and brother. This case highlights the alarming rise in familial violence, particularly against minors.
According to the National Crime Records Bureau, India recorded 28,046 rape cases in 2020, with a significant number involving children. These statistics underscore the urgent need for stronger protections and resources for victims of child sexual abuse.
As awareness of this tragic incident spreads, child advocacy groups are calling for increased efforts to safeguard children and support victims of abuse, emphasizing that no child should ever suffer in silence.
