Speaking at the event, MPL CEO Mohammed Vajeeh highlighted the significance of the project for enhancing maritime services in the northern region of the Maldives. He stressed that the dockyard and slipway are key components in supporting maritime operations in the area and expressed MPL’s commitment to initiating construction as soon as possible. "We aim to start work swiftly, and while not everything may be complete when maritime services launch in the north, we are optimistic that this will be a successful venture," said Vajeeh.
In his address, Ihavandu Council President Ahmed Sobah emphasized the positive impact the project will have on the local community. The development is expected to generate numerous job opportunities for the residents of Ihavandu. Sobah echoed the CEO’s sentiments regarding the swift commencement of work, stating, "We are hopeful to begin practical work soon."
In addition to the dockyard and slipway, MPL also signed an agreement with the Ihavandu Council to install a water barge for water bunkering services in Thuraakunu, further enhancing the region's maritime infrastructure.
