Maldives and China Strengthen Infrastructure Collaboration

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, Moosa Zameer, met with Luo Zhaohui, Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), during his official visit to China. The meeting centered on bolstering collaboration in key infrastructure projects critical to the sustainable development of the Maldives.
Minister Zameer highlighted the essential partnership between the Maldives and CIDCA, discussing ongoing initiatives and exploring new cooperation opportunities. Both parties stressed the importance of the timely implementation of projects aimed at improving infrastructure and boosting economic growth in the Maldives, thus providing substantial benefits to the Maldivian people.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to close collaboration, ensuring the successful execution of future initiatives benefiting both nations.
Minister Zameer was accompanied by Dr. Mohamed Shafeeq, Minister of Finance; Dr. Abdulla Muththalib, Minister of Construction and Infrastructure; Dr. Fazeel Najeeb, Ambassador-Designate; and senior officials from the Maldivian government and the Embassy of Maldives in China.
Following the meeting, Minister Zameer witnessed the signing of the “Letters of Exchange on the Feasibility Study for the Redevelopment of Malé and Villimalé Roads Project.” This project is one of the key pledges of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s government. Dr. Abdulla Muththalib and Chairman Luo Zhaohui signed the agreement on behalf of their respective governments, marking a significant step forward in Maldives-China infrastructure cooperation.
