Maldives State Shipping (MSS) is set to expand its maritime operations with new voyages to Malaysia and Singapore, according to an announcement by MSS Managing Director Ahmed Shareef.
The inaugural voyage is scheduled to depart from Port Klang, Malaysia, on the 13th of this month. The planned route includes stops in Singapore before proceeding to Colombo, Sri Lanka, with goods ultimately being transported to the Maldives.
"The voyage is planned to be completed in about 15 days, including seven days each way," Shareef explained. "As business progresses, we aim to add more ports to our itinerary."
The MSS vessel, capable of carrying up to 500 containers, is expected to enhance trade efficiency and connectivity in the region. This development marks a significant step forward for MSS, reflecting the company's commitment to expanding its services and supporting the Maldivian economy.
The new routes are anticipated to facilitate smoother and more cost-effective trade between the Maldives and key Asian markets, contributing to the broader goal of regional economic integration.
