The number of airlines flying to the Maldives has reached 40, according to the Ministry of Tourism. This marks an increase of four airlines compared to the previous year, as of June 13th.
The latest figures indicate that seven major European airlines now serve the Maldives, with the majority of airlines coming from Europe and the Middle East. Additionally, three airlines each from China and India are now flying to the Maldives, contributing to the growing connectivity.
This increase in airline traffic coincides with a rise in tourist arrivals. So far this year, 936,258 tourists have visited the Maldives, compared to 854,405 during the same period last year. The enhanced connectivity is expected to further boost the tourism sector, which is a critical component of the Maldivian economy.
