The newly elected members of the Parliament will be sworn in on May 28th, said Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Aslam.
He said this while speaking at the Parliament meeting held today. He has stated that the necessary preparations are being made.
The people did not support many of the main MDP members in the recent parliamentary elections. Notably, the current Speaker of Parliament Aslam has not been elected for the next parliamentary term. The ruling PNC, which won a huge victory in the last parliamentary elections, won a super majority and defeated five former MDP ministers who contested the election.
The term of the current members of parliament will expire on May 15th, after which the new members will be sworn in.
