Establishment of Rehabilitation Centers Underway: President

Rehabilitation centers are being set up to treat drug addicts, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said.

The President said this in response to a question by Aishath Sherin, regarding the government's efforts to treat drug users and bring them back to society.

The President said the drug problem has been around for many years, affecting people of all ages, especially the youth.

He believes that community-based rehabilitation is the most important solution to this problem and his government's manifesto will also pay special attention to tackling the drug problem.

Rehabilitation centers will be established in different parts of the country and the islands where these centers will be established have already been identified, he said.

The government attaches great importance to the efforts to rescue drug addicts from this and the work of rehabilitation centers is underway, he said.
