Regional Countries Need Cooperation to Maintain Security in Indian Ocean: Ghassan

Defense Minister Ghassan Maumoon has said that the cooperation of regional countries is necessary to maintain the security of the Indian Ocean.

He was speaking after inaugurating the "Dosti-16 Exercise," which is being conducted jointly by the defense forces of the regional countries this year. The exercises were attended by Indian, Sri Lankan and Maldivian defense forces this year.

The Minister said all Indian Ocean countries should work together to reduce acts of terrorism in the Indian Ocean region and mitigate the damage caused by climate change.

He added that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is committed to further strengthening the country’s defense forces.

The main objective of Exercise “Dosti”, which has been conducted since 1991, is to work together to maintain security in the Indian Ocean.
