Every Child In State Custody Will Be Provided a Family: President

The President, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, has stated that the government has developed and implemented a program called "Ufaavehi" to provide a family for every child in state custody.

Delivering his first presidential statement, President Dr. Muizzu said that his aim is to establish a compassionate government that works to meet the needs of the people.

The government will give special priority and attention to the disabled and those with special needs during this term and his government will continue to serve children and the elderly with love and compassion, he said.

The President said that the work of compiling a register of people with disabilities and special needs in the society has been started and the lack of such a register has deprived many people of aid, when they should have been given a helping hand by the government.

"We will hopefully create an inclusive society and an environment where everyone can live in harmony, including those with disabilities and special needs. We also aim to deploy community therapists to treat such people,” the President said.
