The President has decided to hold a forum every three months to answer the questions of the people.
The President, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, was speaking at the oath-taking ceremony of the winners of the Malé City Council by-election held at Dharubaaruge yesterday.
The President said he has decided to meet with the people of all the islands and will start his visits next week. He plans to meet with the people of all the islands as soon as he has time.
“And I will repeat that, hopefully as time permits. I will continue to meet with the people of Malé as much as possible.”
The President said that every two months, ministers will be given the opportunity to explain the work of the government to the people and answer questions directly in a public forum. The first forum will be held next week and the participating ministers will be given the opportunity to explain their work and answer any relevant questions, he said.
''Then another batch of cabinet members will come in two months. With five ministers in each forum, we will hold the public forum every two months and all ministers will have the chance to explain their work and answer questions. All questions that people have to ask will be answered within two hours. Similarly, every three months I will give the same opportunity directly to the people. We will hold a public forum and give the people the opportunity to ask me any questions they want to ask,” the President has said.
The forum will be held every three months and the first forum will be held next month, he said.
The President said there is no question that the government can answer to any concerns the people may have, and the government is doing the work entrusted to it by the people and the Constitution.
