President and First Lady Attend Wreath Laying Ceremony

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Saajidha Mohamed were in attendance at the Monument to the People’s Heroes in Tiananmen Square, Beijing, China, where there was a wreath laying ceremony to honor those who fought and died for China’s independence.

At the ceremony, the National Anthems of Maldives and China were played by the Chinese military band. Dr. Muizzu set down a wreath and offered silent tribute to those whom the ceremony honored. The monument was built as a national memorial to the martyrs of China’s revolutionary struggle in the 19th and 20th centuries.
