The Foreign Minister of Maldives, Abdullah Shahid, has left for India to participate in the annual Raisina Dialogue, India's flagship conference on geopolitics and geo-economics. The conference is hosted by the Observer Research Foundation, an independent think tank, in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs of India.
The Raisina Dialogue, which has been held annually in New Delhi since 2016, is a multilateral conference that brings together policymakers, intellectuals, and academics from around the world to discuss critical issues facing the international community.
Foreign Minister Shahid's visit to India is not his first. He visited the country in August 2022 as well. Since President Solih assumed office, senior government officials of Maldives have frequently traveled to India, indicating the close relationship between the two countries.
The Observer Research Foundation, which hosts the Raisina Dialogue, is associated with India's external intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). Many senior RAW officials serve on the advisory board of the think tank.
