China-Maldives friendship run held with more than 300 participants

With more than 300 participants, a massive run was held at the Sinamale' Bridge this morning to mark the 50th anniversary of China-Maldives diplomatic relations.

China's ambassador to the Maldives, ministries, members of the Male' City Council, lawmakers, university students, and Chinese workers were also part of the run held at the Chinese-funded Sinamale' Bridge. In addition representatives from other NGOs took part in the run.

Speaking about the event, Chinese Ambassador Wang Lixin said that a number of events have been planned to mark the 50th anniversary of the Maldives-China relationship and this is the beginning of these activities.

She said china-Maldives relations have been maintained very well over the past few years and that one country is treating the other very equally. "China-Maldives has shown the world an example of friendship by providing assistance at all times," Wang said in a statement.

A ceremony was held on October 22 to mark the 50th anniversary of China-Maldives diplomatic relations. On the occasion, the Ambassador presented a memento of Golden Jubilee to the Maldives.
