Speaker of the Parliament, President Mohamed Nasheed has announced that he will be contesting in MDP's presidential primary.
MDP announced the party's presidential primary to decide its candidate for the 2023 elections will be held on Saturday, January 28.
In a tweet today Nasheed announced his decision to run for the primary and requested everyone to vote for him. Nasheed is also the president of MDP.
Meanwhile, President Solih also intends to run in MDP's primaries. Most of the cabinet ministers and the parliament members of MDP are with President Solih. Only a handful of MPs remain loyal to President Nasheed.
