Housing Development Corporation Limited (HDC) has signed an agreement with Huawei Lanka Private Limited for the development of Hulhumale' smart city.
According to HDC, the deal will help Huawei design and implement HDC's "Smart City" project.
"This collaborative partnership of Huawei, which is globally at the forefront of providing information and communication technology infrastructure and smart devices, will provide various benefits to HDC's smart city project," HDC said in a statement.
"The agreement will enable us to acquire the experience and digital solutions needed to transform Hulhumale' into the country's first smart city," the company said in a statement.
Huawei CEO Tau Guagyo said Huawei strives to support the country's economic growth by maintaining its vision of 'In Maldives, For Maldives' and that the company will strive to share global experiences on smart cities, smart tourism, and smart addiction to help accelerate digital transformation.
