MDP talks of democracy after selling the nation out, shameless!: President Yameen

Former President and opposition leader, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Qayyoom stated that the main party of the ruling coalition, the Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) was shameless to talk about democracy after completely selling the country out.

Speaking to reporters after casting his vote for the PPM internal elections, at the polling station in Male’, President Yameen stated that the ongoing PPM internal election was the most important election to be held in the Maldives prior to the Presidential Election of 2023 and it was conducted with adherence to the highest democratic values.

President Yameen added that the presidential election of 2023 will be against India and therefore, all members elected to the posts within PPM will carry immense responsibility, since they will be representing PPM to their elected constituencies as the highest point of contact for the party.

Furthermore, President Yameen claimed that MDP, who talks of upholding democracy, has sold the nation and that they have no right to speak of democracy in Maldives. He stated that MDP has “not a sliver of shame” when they talk about democracy.
