If overthrowing MDP is possible through coalition, will do that: President Yameen

Opposition party, PPM’s leader and former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Qayyoom stated that should it be the only way for overthrowing an MDP government, he will not hesitate to form a coalition.

Speaking at an event held in N. Velidhoo, during his campaign trip to Noonu Atoll, President Yameen stated that only PPM showed valiance to compete against MDP. He said that although he has no political relationship with any party other than PPM and PNC, if the only approach for triumph against MDP was to team up with other political parties, he will gladly do it.

President Yameen said that if MDA was interested in joining the campaign to displace the MDP government, he is open to considering it. However, president Yameen extended the olive branch after hinting that MDA had attempted to trade on his name to gain more members.

President Yameen assured that despite forming alliances to win the election, PPM will not let any atoll go under another party’s supervision, be it a coalition assigned political seat, a parliament seat or a council seat.
