Letter to Mauritius must be revealed!: President Yameen

Former President, opposition leader and 2023 presidential candidate Abdulla Yameen Abdul Qayyoom has called on the government to publicize the letter President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih sent to the Prime Minister of Mauritius in 2019 regarding the Chagos maritime territory dispute.
The government has come under heavy backlash by the general public following the declaration of their newly found support for the claim of Mauritius over the sovereignty of Chagos Islands and President Solih expressing intentions, to vote with Mauritius at U.N. to the Prime Minister of Mauritius in a letter.
However, President Solih remarked last night that it was unfortunate that certain people have been spreading misinformation and propaganda to further their own cause, despite knowing the truth of the matter.
Speaking at an event held in N. Manadhoo, during his campaign trip to Noonu Atoll, President Yameen called on the president to present adequate evidence to support his claims of the opposition spreading misinformation. Although the government has refused to publicize communication between the two nations feigning confidentiality and sensitivity, President Yameen urged the president to reveal his letter sent to Mauritius in 2019.
President Yameen stated that the fear of losing a proportion of the Maldivian Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) arose because of the letter sent by President Solih.
According to President Yameen, the president’s letter to Mauritius was sent after careful consideration and discussions with the leaders of the ruling coalition parties. Therefore, he said that any one of those leaders will know the content of the letter in question.
