Hanimaadhoo now belongs to India: Yameen

Former President, Opposition Leader and presidential candidate Abdulla Yameen Abdul Qayyoom said that he believes HDh. Hanimaadhoo to be a part of India now.
Speaking at an event held in HA. Ihavandhoo, as part of his campaign trip to Haa Alif Atoll, President Yameen said that he landed at Hanimaadhoo before coming to Ihavandhoo.
President Yameen said that since his trip was not to the Haa Dhaal Atoll, he could not visit the inhabited areas of the island, however, he said that he had urged the party leaders and members of the steering committee during their meeting to discuss strategies to salvage the island’s freedom rather than focusing on Hanimaadhoo Airport development strategies.
The PPM leader said that should the current government be reelected for a second term in 2023, Hanimaadhoo residents will be forcefully removed from their island as it clearly belongs to India now.
President Yameen said that although the MDP leaders are joking about it on social media, we must take the issue very seriously.
Despite having many development projects lined up for Hanimaadhoo, President Yameen stated that the removal of Indian influence and salvaging the island’s freedom and independence should be of utmost importance.
