The issue of India’s AFCONS company developing the Maldives Democratic Party’s Addu City Headquarters has been reported to the Anti-Corruption Commission of the Maldives.
The development of MDP Headquarters, located in Hithadhoo, Addu City, is quickly being brought to completion by AFCONS, where the company is laying the hall floors and putting the finishing touches on the building’s interior walls.
AFCONS is the company responsible for the Thila-Male Bridge construction and the development of Addu roads as well. TMJ learned that AFCONS has been constructing MDP Headquarters under the company’s social obligations.
The issue was reported to ACC by the opposition PNC Senator and ADDU City’s PPM Steering Committee member Hussain Rasheed.
Hussain said that he had reported the issue to ACC because the construction project was being managed by a non-local company against political parties’ governance laws and he believed it to be an act of corruption.
While the people of Addu City have expressed their displeasure regarding the poor quality of work being done on their road development project, the Thila-Male’ bridge has not been progressing as per the set timeline either.
However, AFCONS has been known to have been bribing Maldivian new outlets to promote the news of their proclaimed competence.
