Imran accused of directing officers to manipulate ongoing cases

Home Minister Imran Abdulla has been accused of directly contacting investigation officers at Maldives Police Service to influence and manipulate ongoing cases.
Reliable sources within the police force told TMJ that the current home minister has been directly influencing certain case turnouts through intimidation of the assigned investigation officers.
The police officers said that it was a novel experience for a home minister to directly contact case officers abusing their authority to project certain case outcomes. They said that Imran had interfered in some cases for the undue benefit of certain individuals.
One of the officers told TMJ that the Commissioner of Police, Mohamed Hameed himself had never invoked his authority in such a manner that the instructional hierarchy was completely disregarded.
The officers called Imran’s actions to be unlawful and told TMJ that as a consequence of Imran's exploitation, it is impossible to conduct their duties without influence.
TMJ was unable to get a comment from Imran on the matter.
