Pres Yameen calls out MNDF for chasing female protesters

Former President Abdullah Yameen has criticized the officer of Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) for chasing a female protester.
On Thursday, a video of an individual in MNDF uniform chasing a female protester, went viral on social media. The female protester was carrying a flag, blazoned with the words “India Out”.
The former President’s tweet was brutal, questioning on how it was a display of chivalry, and ending it with ‘Shame’.
In the tweet, President Yameen also called out President Mohamed Nasheed for his gift of ‘economic servitude as payback’. This is likely a reference to the agreement made to sell off the nation’s airport to India’s GMR company during Nasheed’s administration.

He also likened incumbent President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to Cambodia’s Pol Pot, adding that the whole of the country was in a ‘half nelson hold’. President Yameen described Police as the Frankenstein’s monster.

The attack on the female protester had drawn out much public criticism. Many had called this an act of brutality.
