The state-owned fisheries company, Maldives Industries Fisheries Company Ltd (MIFCO), has increased the price of diesel sold to fishermen.
As per a statement issued by MIFCO, diesel would be sold to fishing vessels at the rate of MVR 14.44 per litre as of today. Diesel would be sold to other private parties at the rate of MVR 17.10 per litre.
MIFCO had raised its diesel prices on 14 February; prices of fishing vessels had been set at MVR 12.68 per litre, and private parties at MVR 15 a litre.
The government had previously decided to increase the price at which it purchased fish from the fishing vessels by MVR 1.
