The Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) has announced the appointment of Brigadier General (Rtd) Faruhath Shaheer as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO).
Faruhath's appointment comes two days after the dismissal of Dr. Vitaly Lubimov, the former CEO of MIFCO. While the PCB confirmed Dr. Lubimov’s removal on March 3, it has not disclosed the reason behind his dismissal.
Brigadier General (Rtd) Faruhath previously served in the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) and has held key leadership positions, including serving as CEO of Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) during President Abdulla Yameen’s administration.
The appointment marks a new leadership direction for MIFCO, a key player in Maldives' fisheries sector, as the company continues to expand its operations and enhance fish processing and export capabilities.
