A PPM Govt Will Provide Public Housing For All People Who Turn 18: Yameen

Opposition leader, former President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayyoom said that he has still not abandoned the promise he had made to provide every person who turned 18 before 2030 with public housing.

Speaking at a campaign event held in Foakaidhoo (Shaviyani Atoll); within the Komandoo constituency; the former President said that the promise would still be fulfilled if the opposition Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) were to win the 2023 presidential election.

The former President said that he had made that pledge in 2018 because he was determined to accomplish it. He said that even so, it was neither a small nor an easy thing to do. Saying that it was a huge responsibility, the former President pointed out that it would also cost a lot. Regardless, he said, this was the goal of the PPM and the PPM would achieve it.

He repeated that he would fulfill the pledge several times during his talk.

The former President said that the PPM sought the Komandoo constituency because they wanted to let the voice of Komandoo be heared in the Majlis. He said that the constituency was in need of many things. He further reiterated his intention develop an airport within the constituency.
