Many Komandoo (Shaviyani Atoll) residents came out to meet and greet the opposition leader, former President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayyoom, when he arrived at the island today.
The former President visited the island to drum up support for the opposition's candidate; Moosa Fathuhy; for the recently-vacated Komandoo parliamentary seat. The Komandoo bi-elections have been scheduled for 5 February.
The former President was accompanied by a delegation of high-ranking members of the opposition coalition.
The opposition also held a campaign event at Komandoo today, and the former President addressed the many Komandoo residents in attendance.
