Police Orders Opposition To Avoid Writing “India Out” Using English Alphabet: Opposition

The opposition Progressive National Coalition has said that the police had required for their “India Out” slogans on their t-shirts to only be written in Maldivian-language lettering.
The opposition PPM’s spokesperson, Heena Waleed, told The Maldives Journal that 7 people had been arrested at the “India Out” demonstration near PPM’s offices today.
Heena further clarified that the former Hoarafushi MP Mohamed Ismail had not been arrested at the demonstration, nor had he been wearing an “India Out” t-shirt.
She stated that the police had instructed them to not call out “India Out”, and had ordered them to not wear t-shirts with the slogan printed on them.
“The actions of the police today were very dirty. Their actions were unacceptable”, said Heena.
Opposition leader, Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayyoom, had instructed the opposition to intensify their campaign to remove the assets and personnel of the Indian military from the Maldives. The government had officially responded that the intensifying movement would be stopped.
