The Coast Guard of the Maldives National Defence Force have begun their efforts to search and rescue the crew of a fishing vessel that sank near Fussaru (Vaavu Atoll).
According to the MNDF, the fishing vessel had sunk 4 nautical miles southwest of Fussaru. The boat, named “Alama-0”, had departed from Feeali (Faafu Atoll).
The MNDF had received reports of the vessel’s sinking at 23:22 the night before, and said that there had been three people onboard the vessel.
The MNDF said that it had begun efforts to search for the missing vessel and to rescue those that had been onboard.
