Search Underway for Missing Nepalese Sailor

Rescuers in the Maldives are searching for a Nepalese sailor who went missing on Monday night after falling overboard from the cargo ship Seamax, en route to Malé City.

The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) Coastguard has launched a search and rescue operation, while the police have also opened an investigation into the incident.

According to the police, the sailor, identified as Raj Kumar, was discovered missing when the ship was approximately eight miles off the coast of Fuvahmulah, in the open sea between Fuvahmulah and Addu City.

The incident occurred during severe weather conditions, with torrential rain and thunderstorms affecting various parts of the Maldives.

Despite challenging weather conditions, rescuers are continuing their efforts to locate the missing sailor. Further updates will be provided as the search progresses.
