Company Linked To MP Eva And Minister Aslam Contracted For Hiyaa Lift Maintenance Project

It has come to light that the Housing Development Corporation had contracted a company co-owned by Ahmed "Saabe" Shahid; husband of MP Eva Abdulla (MDP-Galolhu North); to maintain the elevators in the Hiyaa flats. The Hiyaa housing scheme was launched by the Yameen administration and oversaw the construction of 7,000 public housing units.

The maintenance of the elevators had been contracted to a company named Contact Pvt Ltd, a company co-owned by the main shareholders of Riyan Pvt Ltd.

The HDC had previously denied reports, published by online newspapers, of having contracted Saabe's company for the project. However, yesterday, the HDC had disclosed that Contact Pvt Ltd had been contracted for the project. In addition to Saabe's stake in the company, Housing Minister Aslam is also connected to the company. Reliable sources have reported that prior to being appointed to his ministerial position, Aslam had worked for the company.
