A Fair Trial Would Not Find Me Guilty: Former President Yameen

The leader of the opposition, former President Abdullah Yameen, has stated that he could not be touched if a fair trial were to be held.
Speaking at the office of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) last night, former President Yameen expressed his gratitude to everyone who had worked to save him from his prison sentence. He said that he would work with the citizens until the next obstacle.
Noting the charges made against him by the State, the former President said that he would be untouchable in a true and fair trial.
"Even tonight I will tell you, if a fair trial were to be held on the embezzlement of state funds, as I had told you years ago at this podium, there would be no way to touch me", said the former President Yameen.
Two years ago, the former President Yameen had addressed the public from the PPM offices' podium and stated that he had not embezzled public funds, and that a fair trial would not find him guilty.
Although the former President had been acquitted of money-laundering charges by the Supreme Court, the State has laid additional charges against him.
